CORINTH – A Corinth father and son have been charged with aggravated assault after an incident in which a man was allegedly shot in the leg and struck with a gun Tuesday, Alcorn County Sheriff Ben Caldwell said.
Brandon Mincy, 39, County Road 344, Corinth, was charged with aggravated assault in connection with the alleged shooting of Benny Ray Ross in the leg. Ross, 42, was shot in the leg with a .9-millimeter handgun, the sheriff said.
Billy Mincy, 59, East Second St., Corinth, was charged with aggravated assault in connection with the alleged striking of Ross with a different weapon, Caldwell said.
The alleged incident occurred at the residence of Ross' estranged wife on County Road 246. The sheriff's office was called to the scene at about 11:10 a.m. It appears the incident was related to a domestic disturbance, Caldwell said.
Ross was treated by Magnolia Ambulance at the scene and airlifted, the sheriff added.
Billy Mincy is Brandon Mincy's father. And Billy Mincy is Ross' father-in-law.
