A man who led police on a high speed chase originating in Lee County on Saturday evening was apprehended when he ran over spike strips coming into Amory near the National Guard Armory on Highway 25.

According to Tupelo Police Chief Bart Aguirre, Tupelo officers tried to pull over Donald Eddy, 34, Saturday night for an expired tag when he sped off on Highway 78.

According to Amory Police Department Lt. Andy Long, Eddy made it through Itawamba County before heading south on Highway 25 and attempting to come through Amory.

“We set up spike strips there at the National Guard, and they successfully deployed so we got him before he got into town,” Long said.

Eddy was transported back to Lee County to face charges including felony fleeing and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $2,300.
