An 11-month-old died in a head-on collision in Tippah County on Friday night.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the wreck on Highway 15 near Tiplersville at about 8 p.m. It appeared that Jennalee Lyles, 25, of Falkner, was traveling south in a Ford Fusion when a Ford F-350 driven by Danny Banuelos, 28, of Tiplersville, crossed over the center line and collided head-on with Lyles’ car.
Sikes Lyles, 11 months, died at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash. MHP says he was properly fastened in a child restraint.
Jennalee Lyles was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. She is the wife of Walnut High School boys basketball coach Paul Lyles.
Banuelos and a passenger in his vehicle were not injured.
The wreck remains under investigation by MHP.
