A Nettleton woman has been charged with kidnapping and vehicle theft in connection to a New Year's Day incident.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at a residence on Todd Lane at 5:22 a.m. Thursday in reference to a 13-month-old child that had been taken and a truck that was stolen.

The non-custodial mother, Emily Brooke Vance, 28, of Nettleton, was located in the stolen truck by Mississippi Highway Patrol Officers in Desoto County at around 11:48 a.m. that same day.

The 13-month-old was reported in good condition and returned to the custodial grandparents.

Vance was taken into custody and transported to Monroe County Detention Center, where she is currently in custody. She is charged with kidnapping and felony taking of a motor vehicle. Bond has not been set.
