Tishomingo tourism council hosts spring river cruises
From staff reports
IUKA - By popular demand, the Tishomingo County Tourism Council is again offering spring river cruises. Two cruises each day will be available April 25-27.
"This is a great way to relax and unwind as well as enjoy the great scenery that we have here in Tishomingo County," said Theresa Cutshall, council spokesman.
This is the second year for the spring cruises. The tourism council has offered fall foliage cruises for several years.
"The cruise will offer panoramic views in three states, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee," Cutshall said. "The steep hillsides along the riverbank should be fresh with spring color."
The cruise also affords a wonderful opportunity to see the birds that inhabit this natural area, she said. The journey will take passengers up Pickwick Lake and along the Tennessee River.
Cruise times are from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and afternoon cruises will be from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the exception of the Saturday dinner cruise, which will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Tickets are $25 per person for the sightseeing only tours and $45 for the dinner cruise.
These cruises will be aboard the Grandpa Woo III, which can accommodate 125 people. Boarding will be at Aqua Yacht Harbor on Mississippi Highway 25 north of Iuka. Passengers are requested to board 20-30 minutes before cast off.
