Five Pontotoc teen-agers have been arrested and charged with burglarizing two buildings - one in Lee County and another in Pontotoc.
Sgt. Jim Johnson, an investigator with the Lee County Sheriff's Department, said the teens are each being charged in Lee County with one count of burglary of a commercial building. Two are being charged as adults.
Johnson said the five are accused of using a rock to break out a window of the Brewer Grocery Store on Road 855 in Brewer community at 11:50 p.m. Sunday and taking items from inside.
A spokesman with the Pontotoc Police Department said the five also face similar charges in Pontotoc for the burglary of the M&W Pawn Shop, which occurred about 5 a.m. Sunday.
The two being charged as adults are Matthew Allen Hall, 17, 370 Pineridge Drive, Pontotoc, and Steve Tackett, 17, Burns Street, Pontotoc. Bond has been set for Hall at $1,000, which he had not made late Wednesday afternoon. Tackett's bond will be set today.
The other juveniles, ages 13 through 16, will be prosecuted in the juvenile court system.
Johnson said the teens were arrested in Pontotoc Wednesday after a joint investigation with the Pontotoc Police Department.
