At Mooreville, there will be a new Class 2A girls champion in 1996 as the Nettleton Lady Tigers halted the Belmont Lady Cardinals quest for a second straight title 58-44 in Division 1-2A action Wednesday.
Other action saw the Booneville Blue Devils down the New Site Royals 72-54 and the Lady Royals beat Mooreville 59-34.
Following their upset of Baldwyn Monday night, the Lady Cardinals could not keep the momentum going against the Lady Tigers. Portia Jones tallied 17 points and Cheryl Jones 16 for the Lady Tigers as Amy Humphries hit 12 and Kameya Thorn 10 for the Lady Cardinals. Nettleton led 29-17 at the half.
Raji Shinault scored 21, Ricky Miller 13, Joshua Leach 12 and Robert Miller 11 for the Blue Devils while Adam White hit 17, Bradley Pounds 13 and Michael Smith 12 for the Royals. Booneville led 32-19 at the half.
April Pate shot in 13 and Cyrstal Harris 10 for the Lady Royals and April Hicks managed 10 for the Lady Troopers. New Site led 32-11 at the half.

At Houston, Tim Walker scored 27 points as the Aberdeen Bulldogs knocked off West Point. John Hatten added 17, Billy Blanchard had 16 and Roderick Daniel had 15 for Aberdeen. Dewayne Jefferson led West Point with 21, Kendrick Ewing scored 17, Jerome Dean and Alvin McFarland had 12 each and Derrance Sykes had 11.
Stephanie Stanfield led Houston (17-10) with 13 and Deanna Richardson scored 10. Catosha Riley led Kosciusko's girls with 9.
Juanesto Roby led Kosciusko's boys with 19, Chris Adams had 16 and Shane Knight scored 15. Barry Richardson led Neshoba Central with 17, while Anthony Smith and Richard Byrd scored 11 each.

At Falkner, the higher seeds advanced, including the host Falkner Eagles, who were led in scoring by Edward Prather with 19 points. Shane Prather added 14 and Shino Edgeston, Isaiah Simmons and Bradley Prather scored 10 each. John Williams hit 13 and Ron Wilson 10 for Walnut. Falkner led 34-16 at the half.
For the Myrtle Hawks, LaKendrick Bailey tallied 22, Gerald Lollar 19 and Stephen Nolan 14. For Hickory Flat, Freddie Taylor hit 12 and Chad Thompson 11. Myrtle led 41-18 at the half.
The West Union Eagles saw Chip Johnson score 15 and Nathan Porter 13 while Derrick Gibbs hit 17 for Walnut. West Union led 28-18 at the half.

At Houlka, Yolanda Robinson scored 33 points to help East Webster upset the Hamilton Lady Lions in overtime. Carrie Coleman led the Lady Lions with 28. East Webster led 24-20 at the half and the score after regulation was 49-49.
The duo of Troy Bean and Cedgrick Randall scored 16 each for West Clay and Bobby Braunglee added 13 while Derrick Gardner score 16 and Chris Burdine 10 for the host Wildcats.
Monica Blaylock totaled 12 and Rachel Sargent and Nicole Harper 10 each for the Lady Seminoles while Nikkea Holland managed 10 for Houlka. Smithville led 21-14 at the half.
