Gaines reappointed to Tenn-Tom board
Robert Gaines of Tupelo has been reappointed to another four-year term on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Development Authority by Gov. Kirk Fordice.
Gaines is joined by three other council members who were reappointed for new terms. Fordice also named Starkville businessman Dan Moreland to replace Lynn Phillips of Starkville who resigned from the authority.
The authority is a four-state organization created to promote and develop the waterway's economic and commercial potential. The states involved are Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee. Tennessee Gov. Don Sundquist is chairman of the group.
Besides Gaines, others reappointed to the authority from Mississippi were Ray Gore, Robert McRaney and T.L. "Bud" Phillips, all of Columbus. The development authority is headquartered in Columbus.
