HED:Blue jeans benefit to aid March of Dimes
By Eileen Bailey
Some residents in Northeast Mississippi may get away with dressing more casually Aug. 17 if they participate in the Blue Jeans for Babies campaign.
The campaign is sponsored by the March of Dimes and allows employees of participating offices in Lee County, Corinth, Monroe County, southern Calhoun County and Bruce to relax a little at work.
Employees of participating offices may purchase a Blue Jeans for Babies button with a $5 donation or a T-shirt for a $10 donation. The button or T-shirt will enable participants to wear blue jeans or casual dress to work on that designated Monday.
Blue Jeans for Babies is sponsored nationally for the sixth year by Jeanswear Communications, a promotional partnership formed by producers of denim, denim-intensive fibers and indigo dyestuffs.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. The organization fulfills its mission through community services, advocacy, research and education.
Proceeds go to local programming to educate women of childbearing age about the importance of prenatal care. Fund-raisers also sponsor research that affects babies in Northeast Mississippi.
Businesses and industries in any Northeast Mississippi county interested in joining the Blue Jeans for Babies Campaign can do so by calling Caroline Pugh with the March of Dimes Trace Division at 844-6901.
