HED:New officers complete Tupelo training course

Seventeen new police officers graduated from the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Center on Nov. 20.

The class included four new Tupelo police officers, one of whom will be assigned to the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit.

The local officers successfully completing the 10-week basic training course required by state law for full-time officers were:

Sam Bell, Kurt Olson, Richard Rogers, Tupelo Police Department; Reese Robbins, North Mississippi Narcotics Unit; Crossley Ford, Okolona Police Department; Chris Glasson, Union County Sheriff's Department; Jerry Mayhall, Bradley Taylor and Matthew Wiginton, Booneville Police Department; Michael Pannell, New Albany Police Department; and Joanna Wells, Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department.

Three Columbus Police officers, a Senatobia Police officer, a Water Valley Police officer and a Department of Corrections officer also graduated from the basic training course.

The training center is run by the Tupelo Police Department.
