HED:Tax protest deadline is Monday
By Philip Moulden
Lee County residents have until 10 a.m. Monday to challenge their 1997 property assessments.
The Board of Supervisors will consider protests at its Monday meeting, which begins at 10 a.m. Protests must be in writing.
The tax assessor's rolls are available for inspection at the supervisors' offices on the first floor of the Justice Center at Jefferson and Spring streets in Tupelo.
The assessments will be used to determine property taxes after the board sets a tax rate in September. The county's assessments are also used to determine city property taxes.
