HOLLY SPRINGS - A Marshall County man was arrested Sunday in connection with a Friday night shooting that wounded his common-law wife.
Ester Lee Davis, 49, whose address was listed as Route 1, Holly Springs, was charged with aggravated assault after he was taken into custody by Marshall County sheriff's deputies on a warrant issued by Oxford Police, said Chief Steve Bramlett.
Davis' common-law wife, Elizabeth D. Holmes, 40, of Wheel Estates, Oxford, was shot in the head with a .25-caliber handgun after a domestic dispute with Davis at their trailer about 8:20 p.m. Friday, Bramlett said.
Holmes was held for observation overnight at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford and released, Bramlett said. Her wound was not life-threatening, Bramlett said.
Bond for Davis had not been set Monday afternoon.
