HOLLY SPRINGS Marshall County Correctional Facility, a 1,000-bed medium security facility, has met the requirements for accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of the American Correctional Association.

Managed by Wackenhut Corrections Corp., the facility was measured against 483 standards on which correctional facilities are evaluated by the association. It received a score of 99.3 percent.

"This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy because it is the first correctional facility in the state of Mississippi to qualify for ACA accreditation; and also because the facility has been open for just a little more than a year," said Dr. George C. Zoley, Wackenhut vice chairman and chief executive officer. "I wish to extend my personal appreciation to our facility administrator, Emmitt Sparkman, and all of our highly dedicated employees in Marshall County for this unique accomplishment.

The accreditation commission rated the Marshall County facility on everything from physical plant and security standards to health services, sanitation, fiscal operations and food.
