Hunt continues for escaped trusty
TUPELO - Lee County sheriff's officers continued their search Wednesday for a jail trusty who fled custody when officers permitted him to visit an injured brother at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Larry Mills, 38, awaiting trial on an armed robbery charge, disappeared Sunday night after leaving the hospital. Mills was serving as a trusty cook at the jail.
"We feel like he's still around here close," Sheriff Harold Ray Presley said Wednesday.
Mills was described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 260 pounds, with brown hair and tattoos on his left forearm, back and right shoulder.
