IUKA - An investigation into drug activities at a County Road 196 residence led to the arrest of a Tishomingo County man on multiple felony charges.
When Tishomingo County deputy sheriffs showed up at the house June 18 and knocked on the door, people started running through the house. One person who was caught as they ran out the back door had an outstanding warrant from Iuka. Another fell through the floor and hurt his leg. He was taken to the hospital.
One person had methamphetamine on his person when he was apprehended. More of the drug was found under the floor in a bedroom. John David Sparks, 40, of 2856 Highway 25 North, Iuka, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Tishomingo County jail. There it was learned that he was a registered sex offender who had not let authorities know his new address. He was also charged with failure to register as a sex offender.
Sparks remains in jail waiting for his initial court appearance.
