TUPELO • The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested five area men in connection with embezzlement from a local business.
The final suspect, Benji D. Williams, 37, of Baldwyn, was booked into the Lee County Jail early Wednesday afternoon.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said that at least five suspects were involved with a series of thefts that resulted in the loss of merchandise with a value estimated to be more than $100,000. The business, which has not been named, discovered the thefts and contacted investigators on June 19. According to the sheriff, of the five suspects, four were employees at the time.
Two suspects were arrested in the early stages of the investigation. Shortly after publicly naming the other three suspects Tuesday afternoon, two were arrested. Darius J. Pack, 26, of 209 West Wheeler St., Okolona, surrendered to authorities. He was charged with burglary of a commercial building. Quintel Montgomery, 23, of Chip Drive, Tupelo, was booked into the jail Tuesday evening.
Johnson did not release the names or ages of the other two suspects already in custody.
According to public jail records, Jasper Williams, 27, of 737 Romie Hill Ave., Shannon was arrested June 19, charged with embezzlement under contract. David Badeau, 36, no address given, was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with embezzlement.
