GLEN – Numerous dogs were inside a trailer that burned down in Glen Friday morning, according to a family member.
Lonnie Bascomb said his youngest daughter, her two sons and others lived in the trailer and they were gone to the Talladega NASCAR race when the fire occurred.
There were about six chihuahuas in the trailer, he said, adding, “It’s bad.”
Bascomb said he called his daughter after the fire started and she asked him to get the dogs out, but he said it was too late.
“I couldn’t get in and get them,” said Bascomb, who lives next door on County Road 346. “I told her there was no way. Flames were coming out everywhere, coming out the top of the house from one end to the other.”
Jacinto Fire Chief Keith Hughes said it was unknown what caused the fire and said no one was hurt.
The four-bedroom trailer was located at 113 County Road 346 next to New Hope Church of Christ. Firefighters from Glen, Jacinto and Rienzi responded.
