Natchez Trace to be featured on History Channel

The Natchez Trace Parkway will be featured in two programs on television's History Channel in February and March.

A 14-minute segment highlighting the construction of an award-winning double-arch bridge over Tennessee Highway 96 south of Nashville on the Natchez Trace will air at 9 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Monday and at 7 a.m. Feb. 24.

The documentary tells the story of the design and construction of the 1,648-foot-long, 150-foot-tall bridge that has won national design awards. The bridge is scheduled to open to the public in June when the final five miles of the parkway are completed in Tennessee.

A second documentary on the parkway titled Natchez Trace Parkway: A Trace of History will air at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 25. The 30-minute program gives viewers an armchair tour of the parkway with narration on the Natchez Trace.

Both programs are available to schools, community groups, clubs and special events by contacting Ranger Leslie Blythe and scheduling a presentation.
