United Way contribution: $25,000.

Purpose of agency: "We are a Christian housing ministry which builds houses for low-income families. We finance these houses on 20-year mortgages and charge no interest for the life of the loan.

"The recipients of these home prove three things to us. They must show need, the ability to repay the loan and they must put in 300 to 500 hours of sweat equity helping to build the home. We build homes almost entirely with volunteer labor and as much donated material as possible."
