Bobby Lemons
HERNANDO Bobby Eli Lemons, 59, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at his home. He was born July 14, 1940, in the Bethlehem community to John Alexander Lemons and Evie Wilson Lemons. He was a tree surgeon and a Baptist. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kris Underwood officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Earline Lemons of Hernando; four sons, Mike Lemons of Holly Springs, Bob Riles of Ashland, Steve Riles of Holly Springs and George Cleveland of Horn Lake; three daughters, Margaret Shoffner of Holly Springs, Sue Wiggins and Bess Broadway of Hernando; one brother, A.Q. Lemons of Potts Camp; two sisters, Ruthie St. John of Corinth and Thelma Hanks of Holly Springs; 17 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James McCulley, Lamar Parrish, Billy Jamison, Bobby St. John, Dale Brechin, Bobby Gray and James Jamison.
James Thrasher
AMORY James Lee Thrasher, 50, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, in Amory as the result of an accidental drowning. He was born Feb. 24, 1950, in Winston County to James Nathan and Mary Lois McCluskey Thrasher. He was a native of Pontotoc, but had lived in Amory for the past five years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, in which he received the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart. He was a farmer and a member of Bethel Apostolic Church of Amory.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Nettleton with the Rev. Stan Blaylock officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette Thrasher of Amory; his mother, Mary Lois McCluskey Thrasher of Blue Springs; four daughters, Deidra Cato and Heather Parham of Amory, Shoney Colbert and her husband, Reggie, of Nettleton and Melena Pennington and her husband, Jamie, of Mantachie; two sons, Mark Ritter and his wife, Melissa, of Nettleton and Greg Thrasher of Amory; one sister, Patricia Biggham of Illinois; three brothers, Dwight Thrasher of Tupelo, Rayford Thrasher and Ken Thrasher of Blue Springs; seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Nathan Thrasher.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Keith, Douglas Keith, Corey Thrasher, Glen Reed, Randy Clark and Kevin Clark.
Visitation will continue from 8:30 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Georgie Huffman
EUPORA Georgie Blalack Huffman, 93, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tenn. She was born March 14, 1907, in Webster County. She was a retired employee of Wells Lamont Manufacturing Company and was a member of Edward Springs Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Services were Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Bryant officiating. Burial was in Edward Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Abbie Lucille Lyon of Memphis and Frances Hinshaw of Riverside, Calif.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren.
Kathryne Haggard
MEMPHIS Kathryne Hudson Haggard, 91, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Bright Glade Convalescent Center. She was an administrator of Durham Memorial Home and a member of Second Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of Raleigh/Bartlett Quota Club and was a Red Cross volunteer. She studied music at Cadek Conservatory in Chattanooga and Cincinnati Conservatory. She taught music in public schools in Alabama and East Tennessee. She was the widow of W.O. Haggard, who died in 1964.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Second Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Canale Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen H. Plank of Old Forge, N.Y., and Jane H. Skinner of Sioux City, Iowa; one sister, Frances H. Jones of Cleveland, Tenn.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
William Pennington
VICKSBURG William Harold Pennington, 41, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at his residence. He was born May 23, 1959, in Batesville to the late Harold William Pennington and Mammie Sue Shields.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Houston with Bro. Johnny Cherry officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky W. Pennington and Robert H. Pennington of Houston; one granddaughter, Brittany Pennington of Houston; five brothers, James L. Pennington of Virginia Beach, Va., Larry D. Pennington of Houston, Jack Pennington and Ricky Pennington, both of Vicksburg and Graham Pennington of Houston.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Langford, Thomas Guido, Robert Farr, Tom Farr, Jeff Patterson and Derek Clifton.

Ruth Jackson
NEW ALBANY Ruth Jackson, 81, died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was a faithful musician until her health began to fail.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Raymond Shugars officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Creek Church Cemetery. Beasley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Graham and her husband, Billy, and Opal Penson, all of New Albany and Peggy Mathis and her husband, Creed, of Tupelo; one son, Billy W. Jackson and his wife, Mary, of New Albany; one sister, Eunice King of Beloit, Wisc.; one brother, Chester Ball of Beloit, Wisc.; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.
Lorene Crouch
HOLLY SPRINGS Sallie Lorene Crouch, 80, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Heritage Nursing Home. She was a seamstress and a Methodist.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Ecru with Bro. Jimmy Grubbs and Bro. Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Sand Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Grace of Holly Springs; one son, Earnest W. Crouch of Como; two sisters, Dotsy Hardin of Memphis and Margaret Lamar of Toccopola; one brother, Floyd Todd of Memphis; one grandson, Gary Crouch; three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Crouch in 1991.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
