ASHLAND Arletha Davis Wilkerson, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. She was a homemaker and a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Marion Wilkerson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Bethel Methodist Church in Benton County with Bro. Edd McCafferty officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lou Rhodes of Ashland; three sons, Orville Wilkerson, Jimmie Lee Wilkerson and Earnest Wilkerson Jr., all of Ashland; two sisters, Alice Mae Houston of Olive Branch and Louise Davis of Memphis; one brother, Gilbert Lee Davis of Potts Camp; four grandchildren.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.
NEW ALBANY Flossie Mae Purvis Henry, 96, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at her residence. She was born Oct. 26, 1902, in Union County to the late Newton Jasper Purvis and Ellie Bryant Purvis. She was a homemaker and a former piano teacher. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where she was a church pianist for many years and was also a lifetime member of the Liberty Homemaker's Club.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at United Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Mike Powell officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Joangelle Henry Gaines and Lorraine Henry Ballard, both of New Albany; one son, Robert "Bobby" Henry Jr. of New Albany; five grandchildren, Ted Gaines, Bob Gaines, Robert Henry III, Suzette Baumbaugh and Mica Ballard; eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Henry Sr.; and one grandson, Michael Gaines.
Pallbearers will be Ted Gaines, Bob Gaines, Robert Henry III, David Baumbaugh, Jaysen Manning and Gerald Gaines.
OXFORD Frances Irene Tatum Carothers, 84, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. She was a retired LPN at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was a former resident of Memphis and a member of Union Avenue Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Waller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dwyndl Nelms officiating. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Mike Carothers of Oxford; four sisters, Corinne Womack of Oxford, Ruth Walker of Taylor, Mary Elizabeth Starling of Horn Lake and Evelyn LoNigro of San Pedro, Calif.; one brother, Forest Tatum of Oxford.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to Browning Cemetery Fund.
ABERDEEN Elizabeth Ann Rodgers Hale, 62, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Westbrooks Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Andrew Kelly officiating. Burial will be in James Creek Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Nemiah Hale of Arlington, Texas, and Charles Hale of Aberdeen; six daughters, Dorothy Gibson of Aberdeen, Letha Mitchell of Tupelo, Teresa Barr of Okolona, Lula Hubbard of Tupelo, Carolyn Young of Aberdeen and Onnie Randle of Prairie; three brothers, Nemiah Rodgers of Chicago Heights, Ill, Wiley Rodgers and Charles Rodgers, both of Chicago; one sister, Myrtle Kelly of Chicago; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, James Hale and Wiley Hale.
Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
VAN BUREN Ruth Hilliard Bennett, 77, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at her home in the Van Buren community. She was the daughter of the late A.D. and Effie Dill Hilliard. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, R.C. Bennett, who died April 6, 1984; and one sister, Lois Young.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joey Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Bourland Cemetery.
Survivors include seven sons, Joe Brandon Bennett of the Glendale Home in Fulton, Richard Bennett, Donnie Bennett and his wife, Debbie, Nolan Bennett and his wife, Maxine, and Jerry Bennett, all of Fulton, Tony Bennett and his wife, Penney, of Tyler, Texas, and Stanton Bennett and his wife, Rose, of Collierville, Tenn.; three daughter, Francine Estes and her husband, Willie Gene, Nancy Bean and her husband, David, and Nita Duncan and her husband, Tommy, all of Fulton; four brothers, Quentin R. Hilliard, A.J. Hilliard, Franz Wayne Hilliard and Charles A. "Sam" Hilliard, all of Dallas, Texas; one sister, June Priddy of Copperas Cove, Texas; 22 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, a host of great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Bennett, Dirk Bennett, Lance Bennett, Chris Estes, Josh Bean, Chad Bennett, Petey Bennett and Joey Bennett.
Visitation will be from 7 a.m. until service time today.
FULTON Jacqueline Robinson Crawley, 37, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born March 16, 1961, in Hamilton, Ala. She was a lifelong resident of Itawamba County. She was a homemaker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Frank Cayson officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson Family Cemetery.
Survivors include her father and mother, Ham and Mary Forrester Robinson of Tremont; her husband, David Crawley of Fulton; two sons, Matt Bennett and Richie Robinson, both of Fulton; one daughter, Susie Brown and her husband, Clay, of Fulton; four brothers, David Dotson of Tremont, Steve Robinson of Tremont, Jerry Robinson of Fulton and Greg Robinson of Tremont; one sister, Christy Robinson of Tremont; one granddaughter, Brittany Brown of Fulton.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mertie Mauldin.
Pallbearers will be David Dotson, Steve Robinson, Jerry Robinson, Greg Robinson, Randy Johnson and Anthony Wilson.

CORINTH Dale Austin, 43, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was former security guard.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery in Corinth.
Survivors include one son, Michael Shane Austin of Tennessee; his mother, Lillia Mae Austin of Corinth; five brothers, William Herbert Austin of California, Bobby Austin of Grapevine, Texas, Jerry Austin of Corinth, Edward Austin of Arkansas and James Austin of Peoria, Ill.; one sister, Betty Mae Burke of Onieda, Tenn.
HOUSTON Erra Mae Smith Huffman, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. She was born Nov. 20, 1911, in Chickasaw County to the late John Ell Smith and Annie Bell Doss Smith. She was a retired seamstress for Delta Trousers. She was a member of Enon Primitive Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late George Hillard Huffman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Houston Funeral Home with Elder Charles Porter officiating. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery near Houston.
Survivors include two sisters, Louis Rhea of West Point and Annie Grace Turman of Crystal Springs; three brothers, Quitman Smith of Houston, Lemmie Smith of West Point and Edward Smith of Santa Maria, Calif.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
TREMONT Stephen "Steve" Graham, 50, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, on Highway 78 East from the results of an automobile accident. He was born Aug. 11, 1948, to Cleborn Graham and Ora Marie Overton Graham. He was a lifelong resident of Itawamba County and a Vietnam veteran.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James House officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Sartin and her husband, Wade, of Tremont; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleburn Graham of Tremont; one brother, Mike Graham and his wife, Sarah, of Mantachie; one sister, Ann Credille and her husband, Ricky, of Belmont; one niece and three nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Grady, Windle Hutson, Willard Hutson, Jeffery Credille, Patrick Graham and Rickey Roberts.
Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. today.
Legayner Poole, 85, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at his home. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Darden and Sons Funeral Home.
ARLEY, Ala. Roy McPeek, 70, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, in V.A. Birmingham, Ala. He was born Nov. 2, 1929. He was a farmer and a World War II veteran.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Eva McPeek of Arley, Ala.; one foster daughter, Diane Shumpert of Pontotoc.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
James "Sonny" Stewart
VERONA James "Sonny" DeLynn Stewart, 73, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at his home in Verona. He was born in the Pleasant Grove community to the late James Alexander Stewart and the late Yeddie Griffin Stewart. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart after being wounded in the invasion of Normandy Beach. He was a past member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. He retired from Day Brite Industries as a tool and dye master mechanic for 44 years. He enjoyed nature and gardening. He was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Murphy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Lee Memorial Funeral Home in Verona with Bro. David Hamilton and Bro. Owen Riddick officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Gregory Stewart of Verona; two daughters, Lynn McCharen and her husband, Richard, of Tupelo and Nancie Stewart Beard and her husband, David, of Tupelo; two sisters, Lenora Armstrong of Jackson and Annie Wade Tate of Owensborough, Ky.; three grandchildren, Leslie McCharen, Allison McCharen and Lee Stewart Beard, all of Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Jon Weeks, Joe Weeks, Jimmy Weeks, Andy Murphy, Tommy Murphy, Chip Vaughan, Greg Vaughan and Pete Armstrong.
Honorary pallbearers will be fellow employees of the tool room at Day Brite and the Verona Hardees Coffee Club.
