WEST POINT Etrulah Thompson West, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997. She was a native of Leeds, Ala., and a 40-year resident of West Point.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in West Point. Burial will be in West Point Memorial Gardens. Kilgroe Funeral Home of Leeds, Ala., is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Howard West of Leeds, Ala.; one daughter, Darlene L. Thompson, and her husband, Walter D., of Birmingham, Ala.; one son, Sidney B. Thompson, and his wife, Juliet, of Wimberly, Texas; one sister, Jewell Carroll of Jasper, Ala.; two grandchildren, Scott B. Thompson and Sarah M. Thompson, both of Wimberly, Texas.
Marvin W. Parsons
IUKA Marvin W. Parsons, 70, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the Iuka Hospital. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ludlam Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Frankie Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Florene Parsons; seven daughters, Sharon Fazenbaker, Patsy Gilstrap, Kathy Dillard, Judy Ragan, Myra Bivins, Annette Powers and Darlene Enlow; four sons, Lennis Wright, Max Parsons, James Parsons and Stanley Wright; five sisters, Ilene, Majell, Faye, Joyce and Louise; three brother, D.L. Parsons, Otis Parsons and Arlon Parsons; 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Duane Wright.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today.
James Killian Sr.
ABERDEEN James Everette Killian Sr., 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born July 31, 1911, in Monroe County to Herbert L. and Mamie Sandy Killian. He was a lifelong resident of Monroe County, and a retired employee of Nickles Saw Mill with 28 years of service and Chickasaw Handle Company. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where he had served as training union director.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Waters and George Collins Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian A. Lockhart Killian of Aberdeen; three daughters, Shirley Cooper and her husband, Robert, of Haleyville, Ala., Peggy Stephens and her husband, Danny, of Nettleton, and Marie Morris and her husband, Ferrell, of Aberdeen; two sons, James E. Killian Jr. and his wife, Teresa, and Herbert L. Killian, all of Aberdeen; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Southside Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
CORINTH Jessie Wayne Clark, 69, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, at the Magnolia Hospital. He was a retired employee of the Buckeye Cotton Oil Mill in Corinth and a member of Biggersville Pentecostal Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Hamm and the Rev. James Burcham officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Brown Clark of Corinth; a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Amanda Clark of Corinth; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and John David Roseberry of Corinth; one granddaughter, Lindsey Roseberry; two brothers, Jim Clark of Batesville, Ark., and Arness Clark of Corinth; five sisters, Doris Woodruff, Marie Smith and Madeline Smith, all of Corinth, Edna Mills of Batesville, Ark., and Lola Shadburn of Iuka.
Pallbearers will be Rickie Barnett, Roy Inman, Wayne coln, Mack Johnson, Steve Smith and Ray Ellsworth.
Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Jones and Roy Clark.
CORINTH Frances Aberthany, 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McPeters Funeral Directors.
HOUSTON Ethel O'Barr Criddle, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, at Trace Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1905, to Joe and Lois O'Barr. She was a longtime resident of Okolona, but had lived in Houston for many years. She was a lifelong member of Arbor Grove Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Arbor Grove Baptist Church in Houston with Pastor Mike Methena and the Rev. Hugh Holder Cummings officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Southern Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Criddle Owens of Una; a son, Herbert Lee Criddle of Houston; seven grandchildren, James Lee Owens and Marie Lou Huffman, both of West Point, Richard Owens of Tupelo, Sara Rutherford of Shannon, Pat Price of Houston, Linda Summers of Fulton and Sandy Shoemaker of Van Vleet; 17 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Vida Huffman of Houston; a special nephew, Henry Doss of West Point; a daughter-in-law, Mildred Criddle of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Henry Lee Criddle, who died April 10, 1983; her brothers, Jake, Jessie, Walter, Bud, Edd and John; her sisters, Mable, Annie, Loddie Mae, Vera, Era and Pearl; a great-grandchild, Michael Summers; and a great-great-grandchild, Maddie Rutherford.
Pallbearers will be Jim Rutherford Jr., Kent Shoemaker, Adrian Shoemaker, Danny Huffman, Roger Dale Criddle and Austin White.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Odie Martin, Lonnie Whitt and Jimmy Dale Whitt.
Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services.
CORINTH Maxilee Jones, 79, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Cossey officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Billy Jones of Corinth; two daughters, Mary Nell Robbins and Charlotte McAfee, both of Corinth; three brothers, D.M. Young of Georgia, R.E. Young of Corinth and Eugene Young of Selmer, Tenn.; three sisters, Lorena Franklin of Jacksonville, Fla., Jewel Lambert of Pocahontas, Tenn., and Lolade Williams of Middleton, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Jones, and a son, John Fulton Jones.
Pallbearers will be Tim Jones, Terry Jones, Brian McAfee, Jeff Robbins and Brad Robbins.
Jeff Condra will be an honorary pallbearer.
MADISONVILLE, Ky. John W. "Jack" Wilbourn, 82, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Ky. He was born in North Carolina to John W. "Will" Wilbourn and Manie Chandler Wilbourn. He was a self-employed backhoe operator. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served in a Seabee's construction battalion and took part in the invasion of Normandy. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madisonville and the VFW Post No. 5480. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Madisonville Masonic Lodge and the Rizpah Shrine.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at the Tishomingo City Cemetery with Bro. Billy Burge officiating. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Byram Wilbourn of Madisonville, Ky.; one daughter, Anita Beshear of Madisonville; one son, John W. Wilbourn of Rockford, Tenn.; three sisters, Hallie Lee Tillit, Mary Elizabeth Johnson and Judy Wilbourn, all of Fountain City, Tenn.; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. today at the Tishomingo City Cemetery.
BESSEMER, Ala. Flora Weems, 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at her home in Bessemer, Ala. She was formerly of Belmont. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont.
SALTILLO James Earl Putt, 57, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors.

COLUMBUS Thelma Beatrice Armstrong, 97, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the Dale Personal Care Home. She was born Feb. 15, 1900, in Blue Springs to Dixon and Luvina Reid. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in New Albany.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with Bro. James Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in the Center community. Lowndes Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements, and United Funeral Service is in charge of local arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Dannel of Columbus and Christine Kulinski of Baltimore, Md.; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.G. Armstrong, and a son, James Sherrel Armstrong.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at United Funeral Service in New Albany.
Eula Mae Sample
OKOLONA Eula Mae Sample, 64, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at the Okolona Community Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star M.B. Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Eastern Star M.B. Church with the Rev. Arthur Townsend officiating. Burial will be in the Okolona Cemetery. Williams Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Billy Sample of Wst Point; two grandchildren, Mary Sample and Joe Sample, and one other grandchild; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Hykes of Okolona and Mattie Davidson of Houston; three brothers, Madison Sample of Seattle, Wash., Jimmy L. Gladney of Maywood, Ill., and James Buchanan of Wychula, Fla.; one aunt, Indiana Lawson of California; one uncle, Sam Gladney of Chicago.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church one hour before services.
