Ole Miss pharmacy institute taps director
OXFORD - William H. Benson has been named director of the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Services at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.
The institute has developed ways to fight hypertension, cardiovascular disease and other chronic disease.
It also has established a pharmaceutical marketing and management research program and has worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to monitor pollutants near the Gulf coast.
Benson was named 1996 researcher of the year by the School of Pharmacy and is president of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.
He is a professor in the Department of Pharmacology.
His appointment must be approved by the Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees.
