Mourners paid their respects to longtime former U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran on Sunday afternoon during a visitation held at the Robert C. Khayat Law Center on the campus of the University of Mississippi.
Cochran represented Mississippi in the U.S. Senate for nearly 40 years until he retired because of health reasons in April 2018. He died on Thursday morning in Oxford at age 81.
A flag-draped coffin, along with a portrait of Sen. Cochran, was on display at the law school on Sunday. Cochran will have funeral services in Jackson over the next two days.
One funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the state Capitol. Another service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Northminster Baptist Church.
