ROSEDALE - Safety officials are trying to determine what caused a fatal accident at a steel company here that left one worker dead.
Pat White, 58, of Cleveland was crushed about 7 a.m. Monday when a beam weighing several thousand pounds fell on him at Cives Steel, authorities said.
Bolivar County Sheriff's Deputy Dasel Moorhead said it hadn't been determined exactly what happened or how the accident happened.
Deputy Coroner John Paul Gates said White died due to crushing injuries from the beam. Gates said no other employees were injured.
"The accident will immediately undergo investigation by the Bolivar County Coroner's Office, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and company officials," said Gates.
"OSHA representatives will be on site today to further conduct the investigation," he said.
An autopsy was ordered, officials said.
