The Mississippi Historical Society will hold an annual meeting Thursday through Saturday at the Ramada Inn Convention Center in Tupelo. Registration will be $15 for individuals and $17 for couples. No meal tickets will be sold after 10 a.m. Friday.

Here is a schedule of events:

Thursday - Registration from 3-5 p.m. in the Convention Center lobby. A welcome session will be from 5-6:30 p.m., followed by a Board of Director's dinner meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at Robert's on 150 S. Industrial Road.

Friday - Registration from 8-10 a.m. in the lobby. Breakfast meeting at 8 a.m. The first general session, titled "The Civil War in Mississippi," is at 9 a.m. Business meeting at 11 a.m., followed by a 12:15 p.m. luncheon. The guest speaker at the luncheon will be Janelle McComb, a lifelong friend of Elvis Presley. The second general session will begin at 2 p.m. and focus on "Mississippi's Musical Heritage: A Chautauqua Presentation." The 7 p.m. Banquet will feature Tom E. Terrill of the University of South Carolina who will discuss the "Uprising of '34."

Saturday - There will be a 7:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. annual meeting of the Federation of Mississippi Historical Societies. There will be a general session meeting at 9:30 a.m. on the "Folk Music of North Mississippi," followed by an 11 a.m. awards brunch. Luncheon speaker Louis R. Harlan will discuss "Booker T. Washington's Atlanta Compromise Address in His Time and 100 years later."
