TUPELO – Together Tupelo will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Link Centre, and everyone’s invited.
The event will be facilitated by Tony Caldwell and Jandel Crutchfield, both with the University of Mississippi Department of Social Work.
The initial goal is to provide people with the tools necessary to have difficult conversations about race. The larger goal is to create an ongoing community group dedicated toward building bridges across racial and cultural divides in Tupelo and Lee County.
The event was inspired by reactions to the police shooting of Antwun “Ronnie” Shumpert in Tupelo, as well as the shooting deaths of police officers in Texas and the videos of black men killed by police officers in Louisiana and Minnesota.
