Tupelo firefighters needed only about 10 minutes Wednesday to extinguish a fire that gutted two bedrooms in a South Canal Street.

The fire was reported about 8:15 a.m. at 703 S. Canal St.

Flames could be seen coming from the home when firefighters arrived on the scene, said firefighter Robert Woods. No one was at home at the time the fire was reported.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back bedrooms, where the fire is believed to have originated in the three-bedroom, wood-frame home.

No one was injured. A cause for the fire had not been determined late Wednesday.
