TUPELO FIREFIGHTERS SHUTTLE WATER TO FIRE
Tupelo firefighters had to shuttle water to a mobile home fire Thursday night because the nearest hydrant was about a mile away.
Shuttling water is a practice normally reserved for county firefighters, said Tupelo Fire Capt. Andy LaValley. He said in his 18 years with the department, he can only remember one other time where Tupelo firefighters were forced to shuttle water.
The fire was reported just before 10 p.m. at a mobile home belonging to Darrell Duffie at 3153 N. Veterans Blvd.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, flames were seen coming from the structure. The fire heavily damaged the mobile home. No one was injured in the blaze.
