Tupelo firefighters were able to contain an early morning Mound Street house fire to the kitchen.
All of the residents of the house were alerted to the 4:20 a.m. fire by smoke detectors and were able to get out of the house at 114 Mound St. unharmed, Tupelo firefighters said.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in about five minutes. Only the kitchen had direct fire damage; the rest of the house had smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it appears to have started around the fuse box.
