ECRU – Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant told furniture industry officials Wednesday that he would support legislation to provide tax credits aimed at saving or bringing back cut-and-sew jobs.
Bryant was in Northeast Mississippi to meet with furniture officials who told him about the difficulties the industry faced, including the loss of jobs.
Gov. Haley Barbour last year vetoed legislation that would have give a tax credit to furniture manufacturers who retained or brought back cut-and-sew jobs.
Bryant told the officials he would work to get the bill passed in the upcoming legislative session, which starts in January.
