Carl Marion Butler, 74, of Myrtle, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County.
He was born May 10, 1939, to Albert Butler and Mittie Reynolds Butler. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a 32 Degree Mason. He worked for CCA/Jefferson Smurffit Box Factory as maintenance supervisor. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He loved John Deere tractors, farming and being outdoors.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Freddie Johnson and the Rev. Bobby Butler officiating. Burial was in Glenfield Memorial Park. United Funeral Service of New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie Butler of Myrtle; a daughter, Cheryl Butler Presley (Steve) of Southaven; two sons, Ricky Butler (Donna) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Joe Kizer (Carla) of Myrtle; three sisters, Mary Reed of Mountain View, Ark., Ollie Bell Floyd of Myrtle and Geraldine Lucas of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Robert Butler (Mary Lou) of Myrtle; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Chris Butler, Matt Kizer, Jason Kizer, Stephen Tucker, Jimmy Hognat and Steve Presley.
In honor of Mr. Butler’s service to his country, United Funeral Service, Inc. flew the flag of the United States Army at the funeral home during visitation and service.
