Rickey Newell

MOOREVILLE – Rickey D. Newell, 55, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born August 18, 1963 to the late Johnny Newell and the late Betty Wilemon Thrasher in Itawamba County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Rickey enjoyed watching TV, fishing, gardening, playing dominos, and spending time with his family and friends.

Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday April 19, 2019 at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Payne officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday April 19, 2019 at Senter Funeral Home.

Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

He is survived by his Aunt, Donna Newell of Mooreville, Niece, Victoria (Hunter) Grammer of Golden, 2 Nephews, John (Jessica) Newell of Fulton, Bryan Newell of Fulton, and a special cousin, Lynn Brooks of Mooreville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 Brothers, David Allen Newell, and John Wesley Newell.

Pallbearers will be John Newell, Bryan Newell, Zack Williams, Jamy Foster, Michael Brooks, and James McKinney.

SALINAS, CALIFORNIA – Richard Eugene Finger, 63, passed away Friday, April 05, 2019, at Stanford Hospital in Stanford, California. Services will be on Thursday, April 18 at 11:00 am at Macedonia MB Church. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, April 17 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Patterson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at National Cemetery.

Dale Bradley Massey

TUPELO – Mr. Dale Bradley Massey, age 90, died Monday, April 15, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit. He was born June 10, 1928 in Marietta, MS to the union of Edgar W. Massey and Bessie Z. Holley Massey. He graduated Booneville High School and continued his education with an Associate Degree earned at Northeast MS Junior College. He was a patriotic American serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rodman during the WWII era. He married Pauline J. Morris in 1953 and they moved to Tupelo from Huntsville, AL in the early 80’s. He spent his working career in the personal finance industry. At his retirement, he had spent many years as Vice President of Personal Finance Companies, a subsidiary of Bancorp South. He was a longtime member of Verona Christian Church and later Oak Ridge Christian Church. Mr. Massey’s hobbies included reading and traveling the United States. He will be sorely missed by a grateful family and host of friends.

A celebration of life service with military honors will be at 2 PM, today, Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. James Marks, Bro. Archie Taflinger, and Bro. James “Jim” Adkins officiating. Private burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be today from 12 noon-service time.

Survivors include his wife of almost 66 years, Pauline Morris Massey of Tupelo; two daughters, Donna Massey (Bobby) of Newnan, GA and Deborah Massey Washington (Bert) of Tupelo; brother, Larry W. Massey of Houston, TX; brother in law, Earl Bishop of St. Louis, MO; 4 grandchildren, Erin M. Eppstaedt (Chris), Cody Massey, Bailey Martin, and Kyle Washington; several nieces and nephews, and a great-grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Bonita Bishop and Delores Parrish.

Ruth Garrard

BALDWYN – Ruth Garrard 85, passed away on Monday, April 15,2019 at Diversicare Nursing Facility in Ripley, MS. She was a former nurse’s aide with NMMC and she was a Pentecostal.

Graveside services will be held at New Haven Cemetery in Ridgley, TN at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by two sons, James W. Garrard of Baldwyn and Mike Garrard of Saltillo; sister, Faye Spencer (Thomas) of Jackson, TN; brother, Darrel Matlock (Anita) of Jackson, TN; grandchild, Chris Garrard of Ecru; great-grandchild, Chloe of Ecru.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Rogers Matlock; husband, James Garrard; daughter, Linda Garrard; brother, Jere Matlock; sisters, Jewel Lytton and JoAnn Morgan.
