Lafayette golfers headed to 4A state meet

Lafayette, left, and New Albany will represent the district in the upcoming state golf tournament thanks to a top two finish.

Lafayette's Commodores qualified to play in next month's MHSAA Class 4A golf tournament thanks to a second-place finish in the District 2-4A meet.


The Commodores shot a 354 at The Oaks golf course. The meet was hosted by New Albany. Zack Watts shot the team-low score of 83 for Lafayette. He was followed by Devon Thomas' 84. Chris Long shot an 89. Parker Brown and Dominic Bryant each shot a 99 and 98, respectively.

New Albany won the meet with a 335. The medalist was New Albany's Zach McDonald. Cleveland was third with a 385. Senatobia shot a 478 to finish fourth, while Greenwood shot a 558 to finish fifth in the meet.
