The accident happened near the Corinth Boat Ramp in Winston County some time around 2 p.m. Friday. It is still under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Patrol. Funeral arrangements are pending. She is survived by her parents and two brothers, Cooper and Micah.

Maggie was involved in sports playing soccer and softball with Pontotoc Park and Rec.

Her father, Tim released a statement on Facebook on the day of the accident:

“Today has been the toughest day I have had to face in my 41 years. God decided today that He needed my baby girl more than we do. And it’s really hard to understand how. Maggie was the light in her daddy’s eyes and I loved her from the moment I found out we were expecting a baby girl. And I’ll love and miss her until the day they put me in the ground. Please remember my family in your prayers in the coming days, weeks and months.”

And updated it on Sunday: "Her mother and I are completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, calls, texts, messages, and visits we have received in the last 24 hours. She touched so many lives in her 12 short years, and leaves behind a family that is devastated."
