Walnut's Eli Dollar rushes behind the Wildcat blocker. Dollar finished the game against East Union with 83 rushing yards and a touchdown.

TIPPAH - Both the Falkner Eagles and Walnut Wildcats were unable to pick up division wins on Friday, as Falkner was defeated by H.W. Byers 40-14, while Walnut dropped their game against East Union 42-14.

Walnut fell behind early in their matchup against East Union and could not recover, dropping the division contest against the Urchins 42-14. Walnut allowed East Union to rack up over 275 total yards of offense in the first half, while giving up 21 points in each of the first two quarters.

Walnut showed signs of life in the second half, as both Eli Dollar and Kamarrion Gray punched in touchdown runs in the second half. An Austin Watson two-point conversion gave Walnut 14 points in the second half, but it was too little, too late. Dollar finished with 83 rushing yards and a score, while Gray finished with 59 yards and a score.

Falkner faced a similar fate when they faced off against H.W. Byers. Despite being within striking distance of the Lions at halftime with a score of 18-6, H.W. Byers ran away late, taking the contest 40-14.

Both Walnut and Falkner will look to recover this week, as Walnut travels to Belmont, while Falkner hosts Smithville.
