STARKVILLE - Mississippi State pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of four Troy errors to record a 12-4 win Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (6-1) beat Troy (9-6) for the second time this weekend and closed out the Cadence Bank Classic with a 2-1 record. Troy finished the tournament with a 1-3 record.
MSU erased an early 1-0 deficit by scoring two runs in the second and third innings. The Bulldogs then sprinted to an 11-1 advantage with four runs in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth inning.
Edward Easley and Jeff Flagg each hit home runs for the Bulldogs. Brandon Turner added a pair of singles and two RBIs.
Josh Johnson pitched five innings to pick up the win. Johnson allowed three hits and one run, while striking out three and walking two. John Lalor threw two innings and was touched up for a three-run seventh inning by Troy. Ricky Bowen completed the contest with two innings of scoreless relief.
