Looking Back: The Bulldogs lost 68-66 at Texas A&M on Wednesday but bounced back with a 68-58 home win over South Carolina.

Looking Ahead: MSU travels to Ole Miss on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and wraps the regular season at home against Auburn on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Both games will be on the SEC Network.

Who’s Hot: Senior guard Craig Sword scored a season-high 24 points against the Aggies and followed up with 14 points and four steals against the Gamecocks. Sword is second on the team averaging 13 points per game.

Who’s Not: Freshman Malik Newman missed the Alabama game with back stiffness but came off the bench in the last two outings. Newman had eight against Texas A&M but was held scoreless in 16 minutes against South Carolina.

RPI Watch: The Bulldogs climbed 14 spots to No. 137 in the latest ESPN RPI rankings, which ranks 12th in the SEC.

Bottom Line: Ben Howland has to be encouraged with the way his team is closing out the season. State has won three of its last four with all four games against NCAA Tournament contenders – Vanderbilt, Alabama, Texas A&M and South Carolina.
