OXFORD – Ole Miss offensive lineman Ben Brown announced on Instagram Tuesday that he will miss the remainder of the season with a biceps tear.
Brown, a redshirt senior from Vicksburg, started 40 games in his Rebels career before missing the game against LSU.
“It is with great sadness that I must announced that I have played my last game as an Ole Miss Rebel. I suffered a complete tear of my distal bicep tendon in the fourth quarter of the Tennessee game,” Brown wrote in part on Instagram. “I never imaged (sic) that my time as an Ole Miss football player would end so abruptly, and it causes me great pain not to finish this amazing season alongside my brothers Even so, God is good. I had surgery today and begin a long recovery process. Please keep me in your prayers for the road ahead.”
Senior Jordan Rhodes, a transfer from South Carolina, and redshirt freshman Cedric Melton have both seen time at guard when Brown and sophomore Caleb Warren missed time.
Junior wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and senior wide receiver Braylon Sanders both missed the game against the Tigers as well. Ole Miss does not generally comment on injuries, and when asked Monday about Brown’s status, coach Lane Kiffin said he hoped “everyone is able to play.”
