Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott, Ole Miss defensive back Trae Elston and Ole Miss defensive lineman Marquis Haynes were all honored by the SEC on Monday.
Prescott was named offensive player of the week, while Elston was tabbed defensive player of the week and Haynes defensive lineman of the week.
Prescott, a senior, accounted for six touchdowns in MSU’s 42-16 win over Kentucky on Saturday. He completed 25 of 35 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 117 yards and three more scores.
He became the first player in school history to surpass 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing in the same game. His six TDs were the most by an SEC player this season and tied a school record set by Jackie Parker.
Elston and Haynes led a strong defensive effort in the Rebels’ 23-3 win against Texas A&M. Elston, a senior, broke up five passes to go with three tackles and one tackle-for-loss. He helped limit the high-octane Aggies to just 192 total yards.
Haynes, a sophomore, had 3.0 TFLs and a pair of sacks, and he also notched a forced fumble and a pass break-up.
