JACKSON — The Mississippi deer season is about to enter its final segment for regular firearms.
Thursday was the final day of the still season — guns, without dogs — and it will be legal to begin running deer with dogs again on Friday.
The deer season for dogs will continue through Jan. 19 statewide and then it's primitive weapons and archery only through Jan. 31 in Zones 1 and 3, and through Feb. 15 in Zone 2 in southeast Mississippi.
The Clarion-Ledger reports hunters 15 and under can still hunt with regular firearms in the primitive weapons season.
