SMITHVILLE - Billy Holloway compiled 364 total yards and scored seven touchdowns Friday night to lead Smithville past Walnut 63-20 in a Region 1-1A game.

Holloway rushed 29 times for 250 yards and five touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. He also caught four passes for 100 yards and touchdowns and added 14 return yards.

Holloway and quarterback Jason Tipton, who was 15-of-25 passing for 241 yards and three TDs, sparked Smithville's 1-1A victory. The Seminoles, who shut out Walnut in the second half, improved to 5-1 overall, 3-1 region.

After a 12-12 first quarter tie, Smithville pulled away for a 36-20 halftime lead behind Holloway's TD runs of 3 and 4 yards and a 35-yard reception from Tipton. Holloway ran in one 2-point conversion while Tipton threw conversion passes to Eddrick Stegall and Steven Summerford.

Holloway scored on a 2-yard run and a 37-yard pass in the third quarter. Tipton threw to Russ Bowling for a 2-point conversion. In the fourth, Holloway added his final touchdown, a 1-yard run, and Brian McCollum threw 29 yards to Justin Carithers for a score.

Holloway opened the scoring with a 3-yard run in the first quarter while Tipton hit Wesley Scott with a 36-yard TD pass. Walnut (2-4 overall, 2-3 region) scored on Shadney Steele's 41-yard scoring catch from Tyler Cardwell and Matt Martindale's 23-yard run.

Cardwell connected with Steele on a 45-yard scoring pass in the second quarter. Martindale ran in the 2-point conversion.

Oxford 37, Holly Springs 8

HOLLY SPRINGS - Oxford jumped out to a 23-8 halftime lead en route to its second straight Division 1-4A victory.

The Chargers (2-4 overall, 2-0 division) opened the scoring with Brad Petri's 23-yard run and Lyon Chadwick's 25-yard field goal in the first quarter. In the second quarter, quarterback Turner Barnes ran 5 yards for a score and later hooked up with Kent Gowen on a 56-yard touchdown pass play.

Holly Springs' only points came on a 52-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion run late in the first half. The Hawks fell to 2-4 overall, 0-1 division.

Oxford's second-half scores came on Vincent Camper's 11-yard run and Barnes' 1-yard run.

Chadwick kicked four PATs and a field goal in the game.

Houston 41, Winona 7

HOUSTON - The Hilltoppers wrapped up non-division play with a homecoming rout of visiting Winona.

Houston (5-1) begins Division 2-3A action next Friday at home against South Pontotoc. Winona fell to 2-4.

Jim McCullough and Marco Robinson combined for Houston's three first-half touchdowns for 21-0 lead. Robinson ran 57 yards for one score and McCullough ran 1 yard for another. McCullough hit Robinson with a 33-yard scoring pass. Jon Horn kicked three of his five PATs in the opening half.

Houston's second-half points came on Tyrell Harrell's 3-yard run, Chris Brand's 37-yard run and Antwon Harrell's 70-yard kickoff return. Marcus Flowers scored Winona's lone touchdown in the fourth on a 1-yard run.

Lafayette Co. 53, Tishomingo Co. 0

OXFORD - Running back Kevin Herod scored three touchdowns and quarterback Rashad Raybon accounted for two more Friday to lead Lafayette County to a 53-0 Division 1-4A victory over Tishomingo County.

Herod opened the scoring for the Commodores with a 10-yard touchdown run. Marvin Flemmons added the extra point kick.

Later in the opening quarter, Flemmons scored on a 1-yard run, but missed the extra point. Lafayette made is 20-0 to end the first quarter on a 27-yard pass from Raybon to Travis Cox.

In the second quarter, Herod scored on an 11-yard run and Wesley Smith returned a pass interception 60 yards for a score to give Lafayette a 33-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Raybon scored on a 2-yard run and Herod added a 1-yard score to give the Commodores a 47-0 advantage.

In the final period, Chris Vaughn scored on a 35-yard run for Lafayette.

The Commodores improved to 3-3 overall and to 1-1 in the division while Tishomingo County fell to 3-3 and 0-2.
