Baseball America became the second outlet to select pitchers JT Ginn and Doug Nikhazy as first team Freshman All-Americans.
Ginn posted an 8-4 record in 17 starts for Mississippi State with a 3.13 earned run average, 105 strikeouts and only 19 walks over 86 1/3 innings. Opponents batted just .220 against him.
Nikhazy went 9-3 for Ole Miss with a 3.31 ERA, 86 strikeouts and 33 walks in 89 2/3 innings over 20 outings. The Rebels’ rookie also recorded one save.
Both players were also named first team Freshman All-Americans by Perfect Game with Ginn tabbed as the National Freshman of the Year.
Baseball America, meanwhile, picked Vanderbilt pitcher Kumar Rocker as its Freshman of the Year.
