Former MSU baseball coach Ron Polk, who is heading up the sales of the proposed sky boxes at the baseball stadium, says he has commitments for all 18 of the boxes.

"We'll continue selling them," Polk said. "We won't stop at 18. If we sell seven, eight, 10 or 11 more, we'll build more. If we only sell two or three more we'll put them on a waiting list."

The boxes can be leased from the school for a one-time payment of $120,000 for 10 years, or an annual payment of $14,000 for 10 years.

"People can use these boxes during basketball and football season too, even though they overlook the baseball field," Polk said.

Polk has bought three of the boxes, one for himself and two for former players. He says the ex-players will help him pay for the two other boxes over time.

Two other purchasers are Baltimore Orioles first-baseman Rafael Palmeiro and author John Grisham, both MSU alumni.

Polk said about 300 of the 1,000 chairback seats to be added have already been sold.

Construction is to begin immediately after the 1998 baseball season and will be completed for the 1999 season.
