PEARL – Mooreville’s No. 9 hitter Hunter Brannigan’s eighth-inning sacrifice fly Thursday gave the Troopers a 6-5 victory and an MHSAA Class 3A baseball state championship.

The win gave Mooreville its ninth overall title and its first since 2005.

The Troopers (28-9) broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the eighth when Brent Cummins singled, advanced to third on a double by Jacob Hughes, and scored on Brannigan’s fly to left.

Trace Henry caught the final out in left field to seal the win.
