Lafayette offensive coordinator Jason Russell has been hired as Olive Branch’s head football coach.

Russell, 38, has led Lafayette’s offense the last five years. Over the past three seasons, the Commodores have averaged 384.9 yards per game, including 281.5 on the ground.

Lafayette won the Class 4A state championship in his first season.

Russell replaces Darren Bowling, who was 5-5 in his one season at Olive Branch. The Conquistadors missed the Class 6A playoffs for the first time since 2016.

This is the first head coaching job for Russell.
