OLE MISS APPEAL TURNED DOWN BY NCAA
Ole Miss athletic director Pete Boone confirmed Friday that the NCAA has turned down the school's most recent appeal concerning penalties to the football program. Earlier in the week, Boone admitted, "I don't feel optimistic about it."
The school was seeking relief, based on an amended allegation involving a violation by former recruiting coordinator Gary Carter. Recently, Alabama received relief from penalties in a similar case scenario.
"It's a shame the NCAA doesn't view the schools identically," said football head coach Tommy Tuberville. "If the ruling had been favorable, it would've been great, but turning us down doesn't change what we're doing now."
