Looking Back

The Diamond Dogs won 7-3 at home over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday and took a series from South Carolina in Starkville to finish as co-champions in the SEC West. MSU won the first two games 24-7 and 11-2 over the Gamecocks before dropping Saturday’s regular-season finale, 10-8.

Looking Ahead

The Bulldogs will be the No. 4 seed at the SEC Tournament and play late on Wednesday. State will meet the winner of Tuesday’s game between No. 5 seed LSU and No. 12 seed South Carolina.

Tanner Allen went on a tear during the South Carolina series, going 12 for 15 at the plate with four doubles, a triple, eight RBIs and five runs scored.

Over the last two weeks, the sophomore first baseman from Theodore, Alabama, is batting .639 (23 of 36) with five doubles, a triple and 14 RBIs. He’s second on the team hitting .348 with 20 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 59 RBIs and one stolen base.
