It has been a special season for Mississippi State’s Ethan Small.
The first round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers had already been named the SEC Pitcher of the Year and was awarded as the National Pitcher of the Year by the College Baseball Foundation on Wednesday.
Small is the first Bulldog to receive the honor and currently leads the country with 168 strikeouts in 102 innings. The junior left-hander from Lexington, Tennessee is 10-2 on the year with a 1.76 earned run average and opposing hitters are batting just .164 against him.
Small is the second MSU pitcher to claim one of the country’s top honors after JT Ginn was named the National Freshman of the Year by Perfect Game on Tuesday.
