RIPLEY – Wayne Jumper defeated Keith Clark 275-162 in the South Tippah School Board Trustee Dist. 3 run-off race Tuesday. In Tuesday’s run-off, Jumper polled 59.01 percent of the vote and Clark polled 34.76 percent, according to complete, official election results obtained about 8:30 p.m. Both ran as independents. There were 466 total votes, including 29 write-in votes, four absentee votes and five affidavit ballots. There were 476 cards cast out of 2411 registered voters for a 19.74 percent turnout, according to election figures. In the first election earlier this month which led to Tuesday’s run-off, Jumper polled 636 (48.55 percent of the vote), Clark polled 402 (30.69 percent), and Jason Fryar trailed with 272 (20.76 percent), according to election results. All three ran as independents. Incumbent Wayne Steverson did not seek re-election. The election was held in the following precincts: Blue Mountain, Cotton Plant, New Hope, Clarysville, Palmer, Mitchell, Pine Grove, Dumas, Dry Creek, Southwest Ripley. -0-
